Voices of Philadelphia’s Historic District – Visit Philadelphia

Most people know that Philadelphia played an integral role in the founding of the United States. History abounds in this city, particularly in Philadelphia’s Historic District, also called Old City. We have Independence Hall, the First and Second Banks of the United States, Carpenter’s Hall, Ben Franklin’s Grave, Christ Church, Mother Bethel AME Church, City Tavern, and much much more. But this neighborhood has a lot more than the history. It has restaurants, bars, art galleries, entrepreneurs, co-working spaces, unique shops, and boutique hotels. And in recent years, a number of seasonal pop-up attractions have made the neighborhood even more interesting. In the warmer months, Spruce Street Harbor Park and Independence Beer Garden have proved themselves as hot destinations. And the River Rink at Penn’s Landing has been a hit during the colder months. We spoke to a variety of people that live or work in Philadelphia’s Historic District to get their perspective on how the energy that inspired the founders of our country is alive and well in Old City today. And that makes Old City a happening place.
